Empower Mentorship program participants are invited for an interactive workshop tailored to Black, Indigenous, and racialized student affairs professionals who are on different stages of their empowerment journey in their roles. This workshop aims to equip participants with the necessary tools and insights to navigate systemic barriers while safely fostering self-advocacy and personal growth.

Throughout this hour-long virtual session, attendees will have the opportunity to hear personal experiences from the facilitator, participate in meaningful discussions, engage in interactive activities, and reflective exercises. By sharing personal stories and learning from one another, participants will develop effective strategies to excel in their roles and advocate for their needs.

Facilitator: Christina Alcena

Christina Alcena (she/her/hers) is an innovative and strategic higher education leader with extensive experience working and learning within Canadian post-secondary institutions. She is an avid champion of student and employee recruitment, retention, and success, with a strong commitment to decolonization, equity, diversity, and inclusion. Christina has over a decade of experience in the field, where she has worked in progressively senior roles within student affairs and enrolment management.
