By attending the 2025 virtual Student Conduct Institute, participants will engage in an intensive five half-day program focused on developing skills and enhancing knowledge. An emphasis will be placed on applying fundamental skills related to student conduct investigations and adjudication, while gaining a deeper understanding of contextual factors related to the practice of student conduct administration, including procedural fairness, and the various resolution pathways. Throughout the institute, there will also be opportunities for conduct professionals to share experiences, explore current issues in the field, and learn about the impact of their work on post-secondary campuses.

Non-member Rate: $699.00 Cancellation Policy: Cancellations must be received in writing (via email) 1 week (7 days) prior to the event. No refunds will be issued if the request is received less than one week before the event. Cancellations received prior to 1 week of the event will receive a refund minus an administration fee. Administration fee for cancellation is $40. In extenuating circumstances, event registrations can be transferred to another delegate. Registration could be transferred to another delegate with a $20 administration fee.
Meet Your Facilitators Lara Hof (she/her/hers)
With experience in both the university and college post-secondary sector, Lara has become a recognized professional working in student conduct administration since graduating from the University of Guelph in 2002. Lara has worked at five post-secondary institutions, most recently as a director with oversight and responsibilities for multiple policies including non-academic misconduct and gender-based violence. Her latest endeavor includes committing full-time to her consulting business, Hof & Associates, where she conducts program and policy reviews, hosts training, and builds out resources to address complex student processes. Lara is regarded among her peers for her understanding of the practice and procedural fairness. She has managed hundreds of conduct cases, served as the primary campus investigator for incidences of gender-based violence, and has held various roles within student-of-concern teams, including the role of Chair. In addition to her workshops, presentations and speaking engagements, Lara has contributed to various publications including the CACUSS Procedural Fairness Monograph, the CACUSS Student Conduct Competency Model, and served as a peer reviewer and member of the ‘expert panel’ to Courage to Act’s Comprehensive Guide to Campus Gender-Based Violence Complaints. But let’s be real….none of that is exciting. More importantly, Lara considers herself a professional ‘12’ for the Seattle Seahawks. Between, her Sunday football routine, game day outfits and snacks, she’s got fanning down to an art. In the summer months, you’ll find her designing vegetable gardens.
Kristin Lennan (she/her/hers)
Kristin is a passionate student affairs professional with over 16 years of experience. She is on a personal mission to reinvent how campus communities view student behaviour management. Her work on post-secondary campuses has centered around Residence Life and Student Conduct. Kristin has played a pivotal role in the growth of conduct processes at various institutions. She has extensive training in case adjudication, investigations, conflict mediation, restorative justice, and threat assessment practices. She has developed and facilitated workshops for staff and faculty on student conduct practices, chaired behaviour intervention and threat assessment teams, and acted as a key player in managing the follow-up and resolution of student behaviour issues. As a SafeTALK and ASIST trainer, her approach centres on student wellness through a trauma-informed and anti-oppressive lens. She has specific interest in the relationship between student conduct and behaviour management processes and human resource functions with employee conduct in the workplace. She is passionate about perceptions of fairness in conduct processes, the disproportional impact that policies and procedures can have on equity-deserving communities, and doing what is right, not what is easy. She believes that student conduct can be a truly transformative experience for students and educators when approached from a respectful and compassionate place. Outside of work, Kristin can be found playing soccer, doing Crossfit, binging Netflix, or exploring the world.

Nicky Renault (she/her/hers) Nicky is currently a doctoral student in the EdD program at the University of British Columbia. Her doctoral research aims to explore and theorize the intersection of care and conduct in non-academic misconduct processes in higher education across Canada. Her experience in higher education extends to serving as sessional theater and performance faculty in Canada and overseas, and in multiple roles within Student Affairs specifically in student housing and student conduct administration. Nicky’s work has continuously involved the oversight of non-academic misconduct processes and more recently includes a focus on the facilitation and support of academic integrity and appeal policies and procedures. Additionally, she has served as the chair to a behavioural intervention team. Outsider of higher education, Nicky works with English, French, and Indigenous first responder communities as a Resilient Minds Lead Instructor Trainer with the Canadian Mental Health Association. Resilient Minds is a trauma-informed and peer led psychological health training program designed by, for, and with first responders.
