"Listen to cringy stories that shaped my personal leadership. Mircoaggressions aren't always micro in their effect, many that I experienced shaped how I navigate the post-secondary systems and student affairs. This story telling session will emphasis the resiliency of equity denied professionals"- Mark To register, email engage@cacuss.ca. Empower 2024/25 cohort: check your email for the registration link. Meet our guest speaker, Mark Solomon: Mark Solomon is a proud member of Henvey Inlet First Nation located one hour south of Sudbury, he was born and raised in Sault Ste. Mark, now works in Toronto. To the disappointment of his mother, he enrolled in two undergraduate degrees at Laurentian in Music and Native Studies (yes there was a time when Laurentian taught those subjects). While moderately unemployable he decided to get a couple of graduate degrees in Social Justice and Equity studies and Higher Education/Urban Indigenous Education. He has held a number of roles at Seneca College and currently is the Associate Vice President Reconciliation and Inclusion. Mark has served as the President, of CACUSS, he is the first Indigenous person to hold that role. However, the most important role he has held is the father to a 17 year old new driver. Mark will speak for the first 45 minutes. As always, there will be optional networking for the last 15 minutes. Invite a friend or colleague to attend!
