Our guest speaker for this event will be Sumaiya Gangat: Coordinator at the Concordia University Student Parents Centre in Montreal, Quebec.
Sumaiya will share her experiences operating an on-campus Services and Resource Centre for students and their children (funded by both institutional and student fees).

12:10 PM - 12:30 PM: Presentation and Q&A with Guest Speaker Sumaiya Gangat, CUSP Coordinator (Concordia University, Montreal)
12:30 PM - 12:50 PM: Group Discussion; CoP updates, subcommittee business, and knowledge sharing (open to all attendees)
12:50 PM - 1:00 PM: Closing Remarks & Announcements of Upcoming Events
This session is an excellent opportunity for us to come together, learn from Sumaiya’s experiences, and engage in meaningful discussions about supporting students with family responsibilities.

Upcoming Lunch and Learn sessions:

April 29 at 12pm - Joanne Lieu, University of Toronto
This session will feature, a conversation with Joanne Lieu, a graduate from the higher education doctoral program at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto.  Joanne’s doctoral research study and dissertation explored the experiences of post-secondary student caregivers and highlighted the experiences of students who provide elder carer and other forms of non-parenting related family caregiving while pursuing post-secondary studies. During this session, Joanne will share insights from her doctoral research study and highlight ways campuses can be family friendly.
