This Institute is designed for mid-career professionals who are established in their roles within student affairs and are seeking to enhance their leadership capabilities. It is ideal for individuals who are in a transitional phase of their careers - moving from direct service or entry-level roles into leadership positions with greater responsibilities. Participants who have experience managing teams, overseeing programs, or leading initiatives, and are looking to refine their leadership skills for greater impact with benefit from this institute.
What You'll LearnThe Institute unfolds over five engaging half-day virtual sessions that blend theory with action. During the first three sessions, you’ll dive into case-based learning, explore new leadership concepts, and apply them directly to a problem of professional practice within your own organization. In the final two sessions, you’ll develop an action plan to address your problem of practice. You’ll not only leave the Institute with new leadership capabilities and connections but also with practical solutions and strategies to boost your career and make an impact on your team. The institute includes: - A curriculum of fifteen hours of synchronous online learning, through which learners expand existing knowledge and understanding across three advanced professional domains — complex problem-solving, ethical + inclusive leadership, and change management.
- An asynchronous process through which participants will engage in self-directed exercises to reflect on their learning and identify new ways of conceptualizing the Problem of Professional Practice in their home organization.
- Engaging sessions where participants will integrate learning into practice, by addressing a Problem of Professional Practice that exists in their home organization.
- Formative evaluations throughout the Institute through self-reflection, peer feedback and mentorship with faculty and mentors will scaffold the integration of learning.
- Participants will consolidate their learning by developing a solution, a change management plan, and a leadership approach to the Problem of Professional Practice that can be applied in their home organization.
