Higher education institutions worldwide have faced significant challenges regarding student mental health, which have been further intensified by COVID-19. Over the past two years (2018-19), the Campus Mental Health Community of Practice has surveyed counseling centers to understand their evolving needs and trends. In April 2020, the survey was adjusted to reflect the realities of the pandemic. More than 60 post-secondary institutions (PSIs) participated, representing all ten provinces and territories, with 24% of participants from colleges. This report synthesizes data from three survey waves (May, August, and November 2020) and includes student perspectives, insights from mental health professionals and administrators across Canada, and key findings from emerging research.
